The Beginning

My journey down the dark road began in the 5th grade. Needless to say I have ALWAYS loved darker things and colors and music. Yet I didn't embrace it until the 5th grade. It all began with HIM, which I know is not a goth band, nevertheless it began with them. They were a gateway to many other bands for me. The Sisters of Mercy, Theatre of Tragedy, Type O Negative and most importantly, The 69 Eyes ;). As I began to feel the change, I'm not going to lie. I was a poser (sort of). Sort of because, I had a little of the music and the mindset but not the clothes or the RIGHT music. Now don't judge me, because NOBODY starts off as Darkness Extraordinaire As I grew into it, I began listening to more of the 69 Eyes which led me to Siouxie and the Banshees, The Cruxshadows, Christian Death and Bauhaus. It wasn't until I had heard more of the TRUE goth music that I began to REALLY feel it.

In terms of art, I have always loved any type of visual art. Dark, light, romantic, whatever, I love art. Literature? Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson always tickled me. Movies? Horror was preferred but my favorite, forever and always is Star Wars XD (Darth Vader wore black so screw off XD). I like cities and streetlife but in all honesty, I prefer a secluded forest or foggy beach. Nature is always my preference.

Why am I telling you this? Oh I don't know, just to tell my story hehe. My point is, I still have a lot of growing to do and I am still exploring many aspects of Goth. I proudly consider myself one, whether or not that makes me a poser is up to you, but I still bear the title proudly. Judge me as you will

  1. I started with Evanescence, Nightwish and Within Temptation. I thought I was a goth, because I was was a little depressed freak listening to metal and running in black clothing...shame on me :D (and blame the dark and evil gothic blogs full of bloody pictures and depresing stories :D)
I´m so glad I never really called myself a goth. :D
I´m so grateful, that there were people who showed me the right way. I´m in love with goth music and style.
